SUPPORT THE EFFORT TO BUILD A NEW STADIUM IN THE BAY AREA BY 2012
Earlier this year, the 49ers completed a feasibility study with the city of Santa Clara to determine if a new stadium could be built in the heart of the city’s central entertainment district. We can use your help. Please join us in support of this project by entering your name and email address below and clicking the “submit” button. The following letter along with your name and email address will then be sent to the Mayor of Santa Clara and the City Council:
Mayor Mahan and honorable members of the Santa Clara City Council,
I support the Santa Clara City Council’s recent decision to extend its negotiating agreement with the 49ers to provide time to develop a detailed term sheet for a new stadium.
A new stadium will be a positive addition to the city's entertainment district and will generate a significant boost to the Santa Clara economy. Independent economic impact studies confirm that a new stadium would generate hundreds of new jobs, millions of dollars in annual economic impact, hundreds of thousands of dollars in new annual tax revenue and millions for the Santa Clara Unified School District. Hosting a Super Bowl in Santa Clara would bring hundreds of millions in additional economic impact and will shine a spotlight on Santa Clara and the entire Silicon Valley.
The 49ers proposal calls for no money out of our pocket -- no new taxes for local residents, no negative impact on Santa Clara's general fund, and no increase in utility rates. This project is good for the city and good for the region.
Respectfully,
